I love this website. I was first intrigued because of its advertised premise of linking science, art, and human perception… and I wondered about all the places I could travel by using this website as my home base.
On these pages, you will find “stuff” that kids love; things they can do with their hands, and mind… and learning happens as a result of serendipty and not as a result of it being a behavioral objective in a planbook.
What will you find here??? The science of gardening… exploring music through online exhibits, movies and questions… optical illusions at the postcard exhibit… remembering Nagasaki. You will observe living mouse stem cells through a microscope imaging station, create a space-age ant farm and watch a cow eye dissection. You are free to explore, educate, visit or partner. Stay tuned for their upcoming webcasts and changing “what’s new” sections, too.
Check it out… I give it ***** 5 stars.

Shelia,
This was a fascinating website. I could have spent all night exploring! I’m not a huge fan of science, but this could recapture my interest. Although I looked at many of the things you mentioned, I, of course, found my way to the section on seeing. While there I stumbled across One Man’s Journey into Blindness. This may be something I have students in the Psychosocial Implications of Visual Impairment class take a look at and evaluate. I also liked the low vision adaptations they did in this section. I would love to know if you’ve had success using this site with students who use screen readers. It would also have been good to hear your thoughts on the site’s accessibility for students who are deaf/hard of hearing since their are a lot of audio clips.

Hi, Loana – I’ve never had the opportunity to visit this site with a student who uses a screen reader – or with a hearing impaired student. Perhaps someone in the class could let us both know?
I’m glad you found it fascinating, too. I can get lost in there. It’s one of my all-time favorites.

What a great website! I had never been on it before and probably would have stayed even longer if I wasn’t down to my last 10 minutes to post comments! I loved the activity ideas with explanations of how they worked.
